Disincentives

What's in it for me?

Most people would ask the question. Thinking about themselves, they would want to get something from anything that they invest their time to. It makes sense after all that people will promise what you can reap.

People take incentives easily without being given the disincentives. Aside from taking responsibility in doing your job well, how can others make sure that you're giving your best in your profession? How can you make systems better, in general.

Hammurabi created a code to  make systems better. According to him, you give an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. If you want to improve in character, as a person in your profession, systems should also threaten you with disincentives.

If you're a pilot, your life will be put on the line, might as well drive safely. If your a seller of an alcohol, you must drink the first produce to know whether it is safe to drink or not. In that way you'd be more careful with what you do. If you're a teacher and instead of truth you spread lies, might as well you can surrender your job title and live more freely.

If everyone wants to live better, emphasizing the disincentives will really matter.
