9-second rule

When panick creeps in, I take 9 seconds to think of any resolve. To beat the panick attack, I believe, we need to do something. The resolve is not supposed to be well-crafted. In my 9-second rule, the worse the ideas are, the better. The fact that we can think of something so bad, it means we can also be creative enough to polish them into good ones. It is improbable to instantly find a good idea in 9 seconds that is why there is no sense in being desperate of the best idea.

If we cannot arrive at the best idea in a very limited time, we might as well abandon the idea of good and bad ideas in preliminary thinking. Forget about thrashing of ideas in 9 seconds. Whatever comes in your mind, welcome it. Welcome them until you have exhausted the options that you can take. Because, the need for the 9-second rule is to bring us into the urgency of thinking, that which we often neglect.

We might think that limited time means constricting. Thinking of a deadline holds us in the throat, limited time of thought also can. Or, it gives us the misconception that we should do something haphazardly without giving any thought.

So, why not relax the rule and make it your own now. 10, 20, or 30 seconds go make the first step in thinking.

If you fail at the first attempt, go and make another.
