These are Value-Laden Statements

There is a discourse that's been running for a long time now with regards to value-free and value-laden. The discourse is to determine which ought to be followed by the social scientists, researchers, medical practitioners and other related disciplines. On the one hand, value-free statement says that one should not presuppose that a belief is true in the practice of a discipline. On the other hand, value-laden statement shows a bias from someone's judgement.

This discourse is not only exclusive for the academicians.

We can hear statements from our facebook friends that are biased by their beliefs, or judgement.  There are also a lot of our acquaintances and friends who are not fond of imposing their beliefs and just stating what is, thus, value-free.

Value-free statements are safe, but value-laden statements, shows authenticity.  Most of the people forget that the word bias can have neutral or negative connotations. There is nothing wrong with having a bias. Our biases, our mental inclinations, lead us to our observations. It is because of our bias that we can interpret the world. For example, because of my bias as a sociology major, I can explain a certain group behavioral patterns in a scientific way.

This discourse for value-laden and value-free is also happening inside you.

The truth is value-laden and value-free statements can make or break you. It can change your mood. It can lead you to wrong inferences and wrong action plans. So, you should pay attention to the statements that you make.

With a right mix of value-free and value-laden statements, you can have an unbiased interpretation of your world, progress and failure.
